About the Event

Join the East Harris County Empowerment Council (EHCEC), Channelview ISD, and community partners for a Disaster Preparedness Workshop and Back-to-School Event.

From 6:00–8:30 AM, volunteers will prepare the disaster preparedness workshop and help attendees register, participate in the workshop, and complete the required steps to receive an H-E-B gift card.

After the workshop, volunteers will assist with the Back-to-School Event by welcoming families, supporting registration, managing the entrance, and helping distribute backpacks and school supplies.

Volunteer Responsibilities

Volunteers may assist with:

• Preparing the disaster preparedness workshop area
• Setting up registration and resource stations
• Welcoming attendees and explaining the workshop process
• Helping attendees enter and register for the workshop
• Directing attendees through the required workshop activities
• Supporting the H-E-B gift-card distribution process
• Transitioning the space for the Back-to-School Event
• Welcoming students and families
• Managing the entrance and event lines
• Helping families complete event registration
• Distributing backpacks and school supplies
• Directing families between stations
• Organizing and restocking supplies
• Supporting event staff and community partners
• Cleaning and breaking down the event space

Volunteer Requirements

• Arrive by 6:00 AM for check-in and instructions.
• Wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes.
• Be prepared to stand, walk, and assist families throughout the event.
• Be willing to lift and move light boxes or supplies.
• Serve every attendee with patience, kindness, and respect.
